Fit My Bike Approach to Bike Fitting

All regular cyclists will enjoy riding their bike. Sometimes this enjoyment can be compromised by niggles such as saddle sores; knee, neck and back pain; or an inability to improve their performance beyond a particular personal best. Many cyclists are forever tinkering with their position - looking for that elusive perfect posture, but unable to pinpoint why they "just don't feel quite right".

At Fit My Bike we don't fit the rider to the bike. Nor do we use a software programme to specify your position through an assigned knee, hip or back angle.

We start by sitting down and discussing why you want a bike fit, what you want to get out of it and what your cycling aspirations are. After a detailed body discomfort survey we start measuring you and your existing bike (if applicable) and examining your equipment. If you are bringing a current bike, we will watch how you pedal in the current position using motion capture and pedalling analysis technology to help visualise your current baseline. Only after having gathered this data will we form a hypothesis of what we might want to change in the set-up and why. We will then move on to a testing protocol, building your understanding of what a good position should feel like and challenging any hypothesis that we may have formed.

We aim to guide the cyclist through the process of finding their optimum position at their desired performance level for comfortable, stress-free pedalling whilst maintaining efficient power generation.

Fit My Bike

Scott has continued to develop both himself and the bike fitting service. The studio boasts some of the latest technology and equipment to help make the process both efficient and interesting. This includes updated motion capture technology that captures the rider in full 3D from all sides at once. A lot of motion capture systems can only capture information from one side at a time. This new technology helps the discussion and aids the understanding of the rider's position through powerful visualisations that can be viewed on screen. Other new technologies, such as saddle pressure sensing mats, enable the cyclist to see how there weight is distributed across a particular saddle allowing comparisons to be made, whilst pedalling analysis can help ensure that pedalling technique is as efficie
