I have been a bike fitter for over 15years.
I have completed may courses, Bike fitting about wedges and leg length shims, Shimano general practice, Physiohaus general fitting and Aero postion. I still use parts of what I learnt on these courses but have since realised the limitations of their approach.
Last 6 years I have changed my fitting process to actual assessing peoples movement and how this needs to be taken into account in the bike fit. The set-up of the bike will be more appropriate to the person. Teaching riders what is good posture on the bike has amazing benifits to lots of riders. Using shorter crank lengths can be a huge benifit to some riders with movement restrictions.
