Who is the course for? Bike fitters looking to further their education and candidates taking the full Cyclologic Level 1 course. Please note this is the online component only and requires the in person component to qualify as IBFI Level 1 Education. Prerequisites: None General Course Aims: To prepare an entry-level bike fitter with the necessary skills to work with competitive and non-competitive cyclists, adjusting their riding position to meet their specific needs. Module Learning Outcomes: • (K1) To define the standard bike fitting needs of a competitive and non-competitive cyclist. • (K2) To list the adjustable parts of a bike and associated cycling equipment that can change a cyclist’s riding position. • (K4) To identify the methods available for evaluating rider position and performance. Indicative Content: The module will show you how to identify the basic needs of a cyclist using the pre-fit interview – comfort being the priority for endurance riders, while aerodynamics may be more important for racers. This module will introduce some of the main muscles involved in cycling. Some key range of motion assessments will be introduced, along with what adjustments should be made to the bike in each situation. The basics of bike geometry, stack and reach, bike sizing, and taking bike measurements will also be covered. Teaching Activities: Online learning including video and interactive content.
